Steve Glinski is a lifelong Oklahoman, retired railroad engineer, former school board member, and working-class advocate running for State House to bring common sense leadership and small town values to the Capitol.
Glinski grew up in a working-class family with deep roots in Leflore County. His paternal grandfather was a coal miner who supported his family through hard work and perseverance while his grandmother worked as a school teacher. On his mother’s side, his grandparents were tenant farmers from the Forrester community who eventually achieved the dream of owning their own land.
“These were people who believed in humor, hard work, and treating others the way you want to be treated. Those values shaped who I am.”
Born on Tachikawa Air Force Base in Japan, Glinski is the son of an Air Force veteran. His childhood included moving frequently and attending schools across the country before his family eventually returned home to Heavener, where both of his parents graduated from high school.
Glinski graduated from Heavener High School and attended Carl Albert State College and The University of Oklahoma before beginning a 40-year career on the railroad. For 35 of those years, he worked as a locomotive engineer for Kansas City Southern and became a proud member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen.
“My career taught me that real work requires teamwork, discipline, and responsibility. Those same lessons apply to public service.”
Steve and his wife Karen have been married for more than four decades and raised their two children in Leflore County. Their children both graduated from Heavener High School, and today their grandchildren attend local public schools.
Glinski’s commitment to education led him to serve 12 years on the Heavener Board of Education, where he worked to strengthen public schools and support teachers and students.
Steve's campaign is grounded in simple but powerful values of respect, fairness, humility, and compassion.
“Building bridges works better than building barriers. I’m not guided by rigid ideology, I’m guided by the values that raised me. If we treat each other with respect and work together, we can get Oklahoma back on track.”

Workers and small businesses are the backbone of Oklahoma’s economy. As a former railroad engineer and small business owner, Steve understands their challenges and will work to support fair wages, strong local economies, and opportunities for working families.

Oklahoma homeowners and businesses pay some of the highest insurance premiums in the country. Steve supports commonsense reforms that help stabilize costs while ensuring families and small businesses can afford the coverage they need.

Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center in Poteau is a lifeline for Leflore County. Steve believes rural hospitals must remain strong and financially stable so residents can access emergency care and critical services close to home.

Oklahoma currently ranks 50th in the nation in education outcomes. Steve believes every student in Leflore County deserves the resources and opportunities needed to succeed. He will be a strong advocate for public schools, teachers, and students across the district.

Steve believes effective leadership comes from values like fairness, humility, and respect, not rigid ideology. He is committed to working with anyone willing to focus on practical solutions that benefit the people of District 3.
